Here is what a few of our clients have had to say:

"In our school's history we have never had a fundraiser that was a financially successful as this concept was.

$18,900.00 will go along way to help our school grow."

-Pamela Gaspaugh

PTA President, Meadowwoods Middle School

Finally we counted something other than candy! Money and a lot of it! Thanks Earn and Learn for helping our school raise over $20,000 and we were shocked as to how well the kids paid attention and learned, and it was a very entertaining afternoon as well. It was great seeing the results of our efforts in our bank account and not going back to a company.

Joplin Missouri School District

Earn and Learn Staff: Being a social director for a church is not an easy thing, and when asked to chair the fundraising portion for 2006-07 I was overwhelmed, your staff handled everything with our "Bible Trivia night" and it was done with class, and was quite entertaining too. We will use you again and again, and we would like to incorporate your game with our Sunday school classes also. By the way we raised over $9000.oo dollars and that sure beats a cake sale.
-Marianne Childers, Goodwill Methodist Church

The RJ DJ Earn & Learn Process:

We are happy to meet with the School, School Board, PTA, PTO, or whoever the decision makers are to discuss the program.

  • Set A Date and sign the fundraiser commitment agreement.
  • Three Weeks before the actual Game Show Mania Fundraiser Day we schedule an ALL school assembly, or will do multiple assemblies the same day to showcase to the students the Game Show Mania Fundraiser program.
  • Unfortunately, seeing is believing and we WILL select teachers from the assembly to demonstrate the program. Don’t worry we will try and keep the questions easy.
  • After a short video presentation and the teachers demonstrating the program we will get your students even more “pepped up” at this Pep Rally with some giveaways and of course the preview of the prizes to be given away.
  • Students return back to class after the Pep Rally were teachers will pass out the packets. This packet has everything needed to start getting pledges, and also includes a letter to the parents on what, why, and how things work.
  • One week after Pep Rally is the 1st MONEY DROP date. Students will turn in the money raised so far to the designated area or teacher.
  • After we collect and tally the money raised in the 1st week we will deliver posters to your school showing what grade or class has raised the most money.
  • Exactly one week before the Game Show Mania Fundraiser day, the final MONEY DROP occurs. We have the money get dropped off 1 week before to allow us time to arrange for special prizes and allow your students a little bit of time to turn in money late.
  • Game Show Mania Fundraiser Day is here. After working with the school we have established the format of the show and will invite the students to the gym for the program. Parents are welcome to attend, however some schools fire code will limit the # of parents allowed.
  • At the conclusion of the program students go back to their classrooms and announcements will be made later in the day regarding special prizes if they were not awarded at the ALL SCHOOL ASSEMBLY. Special prizes include a traveling trophy (if a date is set for the next year) for the teacher who raised to most in her class room, the top earner award, and honorable mention awards for the leaders from the first money drop.
  • We deliver boxes of prizes already shorted and labeled for each student and delivered to the class rooms.

BONUS EVENTS! Ask about them!

Now we do all the work except for:

Passing the supplied packets out to students

Collecting the Money Raised (Twice)

Passing Out the Prizes

Picking the Game Show Questions

Your teachers will do the above for us. Why because we are asking them to and they get prizes for it as well. The teacher who’s room raises the most money get the trophy we mentioned above, but each teacher will receive a $50 gift certificate for every $750.00 his/her classroom raises. We will pick the gift certificate location but we have not had a teacher complain about where they are to yet!

How much can we raise?

School #1 School #2

230 Students 600 Students

50 % Participation Rate

$100 Goal

$8,625.00+ $22,500.00+

School #3 School #4

1230 Students 2,158 Students

50 % Participation Rate

$100 Goal

$46,125.00+ $80,925.00+

We added a plus behind each number since a 50% participation rate is middle of the road and school average a collected average of $221.19 per student. So if school #4 was a large High School or Middle School with a 65% participation rate and the average was $221.19 they could raise $232,697.40.

We also added that plus sign because you get more than just the money raised. The students further his/her education and we cannot put a price on that, what we can put a price on is this. Each school gets two bonuses for the exact same amount.

Bonus number one is good towards hiring RJ DJ & Party Service for a school dance. Bonus number two is good towards hiring RJ DJ & Party Service for an end of year picnic/field day. You can hire us to bring in a DJ, maybe some inflatables, a Mechanical Bull, or anything else we offer. Both of those bunuses are good until the end of the school year.

School #1’s Bonus $287.50

School #2’s Bonus $750.00

School #3’s Bonus $1,537.50

School #4’s Bonus $2,698.75

How Do We Pick Our Goal(s)?

Goals are easy. Figure out what the money will be used for, new sports fields, a new gym addition, new books, class trip to Washington D.C., etc. Add up how much money is needed. Now figure out how many students you have in the school, divide.

Example School A:

Is looking to send 155 8th graders to Washington D.C. on a class trip. Trip will consist of 155 students and 15 Adults. (170)

The Expenses:

Air Fare $332.28 Round Trip = $5,648.60

39 Hotel Rooms For Students (4 to a room), 8 Hotel Rooms or Adults, High end hotel at $150 a night for 3 nights = $21,150.00

Shuttle Fair From Airport to Hotel $15 round trip = $2,550.00

Meals 3 per day @ $20 (4 days, 3 nights) 12 meals = $40,800.00

$70,148.60 Total Cost or $415.64 Per Person.

For many years School A has done an ALL school fundraiser at their K-8 School, about a 1,400 student school. The goals in the past have been to raise enough money to reduce the per person cost down to $100. In this case around $53,198.60.

Now we have figured the total goal but we must figure a per person goal. To do this we take 1,400 students and divide in half = 700 (this represents a 50% participation rate), now we take figure the average needed by each students to reach the goal, in this case a $76 average raised by 700 students will raise $53,200. So the entire school gets to participate in the Game Show Mania day and the 8th grade class gets their school trip reduced down to $100 per person.

Frequently Asked Questions

“How's” and the “Whys” of Game Show Mania and in conjunction with Earn & Learn, you and your school can earn money to benefit you and your classmates.

Basically how does Earn and Learn raise money?
Earn & Learn uses a Game Show set up to quiz students at each grade level against each other, and by being sponsored by their parents, family, friends and neighbors they raise money and learn at the same time.

How do I know how much to sponsor, I don’t want get caught spending too much?
Each students sponsor sheet will be asking for a flat donation rather than a per pint donation. Since some questions are worth up to 2,400 points and others as little as 50 pints a per point bid could be very low or very high.

Can I make a flat donation, instead of paying later? Yes, whatever amount you see fit.

How will I know whether or not my child will participate as the representative for his/her class? Based on the schools decision as to which type they choose to go with, some schools take the highest pledge student, or most sponsored per class, and others will use a form of round robin style so that all students will play. Our recommendation is for school to use the round robin style to give all students a chance to play.

How are the questions decided upon, and where do they come from?
The teachers provide us with all the questions pertaining to the grade levels curriculum or perhaps state wide testing preparedness. Your students will be quizzed on the material they have been learning already. Additional Current Trends question will be offered to the school as questions to be mixed in for more fun, but will require school approval. Questions like who is the Actress that Plays Hanna Montana on Disney’s Hanna Montana TV Show? Answer; Miley Cyrus. That’s is a Current Trends question and it and others like it (non curriculum based require approval)

If my child does not get chosen how do THEY learn?
If the children participating do not know and answer or should get the answer incorrect, the remaining class will be asked for help, therefore learning as they participate too.

How is the money collected? Does it have to be cash only?
Flat donations are collected as they are determined. Cash and personal checks are accepted, always made payable to the school directly, therefore no confusion. We allow for them to collect pledges over a two week school period, and then the game show portion on the event occurs the following week.

What if I do not want my child to be a participant?
Certainly not an issue, they can raise money and watch from the audience. Whatever reason someone may have, we will honor their request to not be a contestant.

Can I come and watch the event?
Yes, so far in all cases all schools have no issue with parents wishing to view the event, as long as all protocol for normal visitation on school property is maintained. Check with school directly for confirmation. We must limit the number of onlookers in all cases were the fire code capacity comes into play. We will make our best efforts for all students to have anyone interested in cheering them on in attendance provided the schools policies are followed.

What does my child get for raising the most money? Perhaps the right to represent their class, or some schools offer incentives through Earn & Learn for gift cards, and other prizes, etc. A separate sheet of these possibilities will be provided along with your child’s sponsor sheet. The main concept behind Earn and Learn is to not clutter your homes with candles, and wrapping paper, and overpriced candy.
